The Wind Barrier was Successfully Installed On the World’s Highest Railway Pier Bridge—Yuanjiang Double-track Bridge on Yumo Railway

    In November 2020, the railway bridge wind barriers jointly developed by the CREEC\Ruitie and Alga Company were installed on the Yumo Railway Yuanjiang Double-Track Bridge. Yuanjiang Double Track Bridge is a deck continuous steel truss railway bridge with a total length of 832.2 meters in our country. The bridge is located in a canyon of which highest pier No.3 pier is 154 meters high, which is equivalent to a 54-story building. The maximum wind speed at the bridge location exceeds 30 m/s. In order to ensure the safe operation of the train at the designed speed, the bridge deck is equipped with wind barriers.

    The wind barrier is designed synchronously with the main structure of the bridge, combined with the requirements of windshield effect, driving safety and bridge landscape effect, and various structural parameters of the wind barrier have been studied through numerical simulation and wind tunnel tests, and a reasonable wind guide has been determined Barrier structure form.

    The wind barrier is a railway bridge windproof patented product jointly developed by the CREEC,Ruitie and Alga Company(Railway Bridge Wind-guide Barrier ZL 2013 1 0664741.5). It adopts the design concept of wind guide and wind shielding. By adjusting the angle of the fan-shaped wind guide blade, setting the air guide angle, The outwardly inclined installation method realizes the wind and wind shielding effects, and ensures the safety of trains running at high speed in the windy area; at the same time, the wind guide function of the wind guide barrier makes the impact of the strong wind on the bridge less and ensures the bridge safety. The weight of a single wind guide blade of the wind barrier is only 30kg, and it does not need to be hoisted during installation. Only 2 to 4 workers can operate it safely. After the installation is completed, a hollow structure is formed in the middle and lower parts, and the line of sight is not blocked when the train is running at high speed. Passengers can enjoy the outside scenery and improve passenger comfort.

    The core patent "Railway Bridge Wind Guide Railing" formed by this product has been selected into the 2017 National Railway Administration Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Database. The core results of the patent have been included in the China Railway Group Enterprise Standard "Technical Conditions for Railway Wind Barriers". The successful application of the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway Beipanjiang Bridge and the Yun-Gui Railway Nanpanjiang Bridge has effectively ensured the safe operation of high-speed trains around the clock with good results. At present, the Daning River Bridge of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway and the Tibetan Timber Bridge of the Lalin Section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway are also undergoing basic installation of wind barriers. In addition, more than 10 wind barriers are being designed for the Mingyuexia Bridge on the East Ring Road of Chongqing Hub.
